In 2018, Wes Henman launched Clear Creek Outfitters and began raising chukars in Corning, California. With the ranch in Corning and the home office 45 minutes away in Chico, he quickly realized there was no convenient way to keep records between both locations (not to mention, he wasn’t the best record keeper to begin with). The hunt began for inventory tracking software that would fit the specific needs of a gamebird producer, yet be easy enough to use both in the field and at home. Wes’s wife, Jessica, a partner in the Clear Creek Outfitters business, scoured the internet for the right type of software, only to come up short in all of her searching. As a savvy, entrepreneurial-minded thinker, she decided to build it herself, and thus, HatchTracker was hatched. Wes and Jessica worked with a developer to create a custom app specifically for Clear Creek Outfitters, allowing Wes to track all the relevant analytics for his business, but the idea was too good to keep for themselves and it is their mission to help gamebird producers like them manage their businesses easily and efficiently.
Jessica Henman was born and raised in Chico, California in a family of small business entrepreneurs. In addition to participating in 4-H for 10 years, she adopted many leadership roles throughout her education and upbringing, helping her to develop an eye for uniting like-minded people to achieve common goals and support their community. Marrying Wes in 2018, the same year Clear Creek Outfitters began, she has worked alongside him in the chukar business and has first-hand knowledge of the specific challenges facing gamebird producers. Always on the lookout for finding the best way to solve a problem, as demonstrated by her role in developing a first-of-its-kind gamebird inventory software program, she has worked alongside her family in all of their owned and operated businesses to help them thrive and maintain their status as a respected part of the local community. Outside of her involvement in her family’s endeavors, she is an attorney by trade and has a passion for agriculture and animals.
With several years of 4-H in her personal history, and a lifetime on the beautiful rolling hills of the Palouse near the Washington-Idaho border, Kristin loves all things outdoors. No stranger to hard work, she was intrigued when Jess pitched the idea of HatchTracker as a business endeavor that they could pursue together. In looking to get more integrated into ag-based business, as well as model entrepreneurship for her two young daughters, Kristin was happy to join the flock. Currently acting as President, Kristin can’t wait to partner with you for all your gamebird-related needs and do her best in supporting our industry.
